Hi all, 'Killing in the name' is currently ahead on downloads but the physical release of the X Factor single today will bring them right back. Wondering if anybody has bought either track?

If you are interested in getting RATM to number 1 you can buy it for as little as 29p from Amazon!

I've already got it. And besides, the irony of buying a song containing the lyrics "F**k you, I won't do what you tell me" because I'm told to is too much for me.

Yeh it's quite funny but it is a great song! I think the majority who have bought are Rage fans.

It's annoying however that people don't seem to be getting the aim of this, they are saying it is cynical, a personal thing against Cowell or Joe. it's not, it's just an attempt to get a decent song to christmas Number 1!

As of today the bookies have made Rage favorites and we are 60,000 sales ahead! But we need more, the single will sell thousands in HMV today now it's released on CD.

Why has RATM been chosen as the band to go up against X Factor (please don't attempt to say it's not an anti X-Factor thing)?

Simply because it has the lyric "F*** You I won't do what you tell me" repeated over and over.

When it originally charted back in 93, they did originally play it on Radio 1's chart show fully uncensored, no one had bothered to check

I must say that X Factor has so little impact on me that I could not care less if Joe is number one for the rest of time. Who cares if he has the Christmas number one. Let the young lad have his 5 minutes of fame, its the only 5 minutes he is going to get. As for Rage Against the Machine and Killing in the Name Of, its a great song to be enjoyed in the privacy of your own headphones.

The only positive thing about the X Factor is that the wife tells me to stay at the rugby club for an extra hour or 2 on a Saturday night until its over so she can watch it.

I wonder now thats its over will she expect me to come home early? If so I might actually be able to stay awake and watch Match of the Day this week.

It is a great song. Perhaps I'll buy a copy and donate it to my brother.

I do think if someone's gone and bought this record just because of the fuss that's been made about it, I think they should throw it away. And then they should go and buy another copy, because they like the song.

i think not. i never care what's at number 1 at any time of the year, let alone xmas. i just listen to what i like when i like depending on my mood.

i certainly wouldn't throw away 29p just because someone's had the idea they can make a fortune by starting a scam to stop x-factor from being number 1.

Haha a scam? Funny stuff.
There are loads of conspiracies about, all of them fake. It's a natural thing for cynics to assume i suppose.
As for not caring what's number 1, thats pretty sad mate. I bet you would love it if your favorite band got the number 1 spot.

I don't see it as a scam (even though both the artists are owned/contracted to sony!)
For the last few years there has been various 'stop xfactor getting no.1' groups on facebook. This years one just seems to have had much more impact.

I've just downloaded from amazon for 29p.

The facebook group also link to a justgiving page which has raised over £30,000 for the shelter charity.
