Well, no such thing as bad publicty. Can't help but think this is more free press feeding into the x-factor machine, win or lose the Christmas no.1 slot. I'm sick of hearing about the programme good or bad. Simon Cowell was on Newsnight the other night, jeez have then not got something better to be talking about?

Now they've got Joe on Radio 5

Yes - they had to interrupt the phone-in about climate change to accommodate him which about sums up Radio 5 Live these days:sad:

Todays MusicBiz update

The gap between Rage Against The Machine and Joe McElderry in midweek sales figures has narrowed to just under 9,000 copies, as the race for the Christmas number one single goes right to the wire.

Rage Against The Machine’s Nineties hit Killing In The Name had established a 60% lead over McElderry’s The Climb earlier this week, only for this to be cut back as the CD single of The Climb hit stores.

The latest OCC figures show that Killing In The Name is still ahead – but only just. Killing In The Name has sold just over 306,000 copies so far this week, while The Climb has shifted around 297,000.

The Climb has been helped by sales of more than 150,000 CD singles, while sales of Killing In The Name have been entirely digital.

According to one report of events (I didn't hear it myself), Nicky Campbell was so "into the music" he didn't realise what was going on.
I heard him say that. Trust me, he was having a laugh!

You realise that Cowell's gonna win and this RATM thing is just going to give him more smug-munition... he'll be even more unbearable...
Actually I hold Cowell in high regard... he's bloody good at what he does... the smug bastard).

course he's going to win, because he's going to buy enough copies of his record himself, as many as is necessary to ensure he gets the number 1. As he always does. He's only pissed off because he's going to have to buy slightly more than he otherwise would have done, and to feign indignation so it looks like that isn't what he does.

Did anyone see the picture of Cowell in the Sunday Times - it had a speech bubble saying "How dare they manipulate the British public, that's my job".

Lol! That was the best 99p I've ever spent

I think its more backlash against the X factor being a cynical marketing ploy in our sick comsume consume consume society. The trouble is that so many sheeple can't see through it. It made me feel quite optimistic...politicians beware, you're next.
