Hmm - 2 people have killed themselves after appearances on his shows!
Well, the man in that link had huge debts and killed himself three years later. I don't see how that is Gordon Ramsey's fault.

Ramsay's shows are 'reality TV' i.e. not real at all. I've never met the bloke, but I have eaten at Prashad's, which featured on one of his recent shows- http://www.prashad.c..._finalists.html
Mrs P said all the shouting and abuse were just for the cameras and whenever they weren't rolling he was helpful, knowledgeable and very supportive.

Hmm - okay, there might not be a direct link but taking people who are already extremely stressed and screaming abuse at them in public isn't exactly going to improve their mental health!

I still have flashbacks of being treated like that well over 20 years ago.

Now I know the source might be equally divisive, but Jamie Oliver said in last week's Times that he never responds to Ramsay is because it's not worth it. He added that no one says anything about him because everyone who knows know his wife and kids are lovely people and they can't understand why she stays with him.

WHen he was a trainee at Marco Pierre White's, MPW made Ramsay cry.

Personally I think you have to be some kind of macho bully to be a chef. And a bit of an peanut to boot. I think Ramsay probably takes it all a bit too far though.

Would they transmit a programme if the chef-owner nodded, smiled, agreed with Ramsay and didn't answer back?

A few years ago the Beeb ran two or three series called "Beyond Boundaries", major trekking expeditions by people with disabilities. I watched all of them and it was noticeable from the start of series 2 that people had been picked who were quite selfish with massive egos and were not going to be team players- first time around they had gelled very well, but with the odd argument as could really be expected.

A few of the big egos made things very unpleasant and did not help the expeditions much, but I'll bet the ratings went up....

About a month ago, my sister went to a conference/talk where one of his ex-chef's was speaking (Angela Hartnett I think). Apparently, she has similar views of Ramsey as the OP.
