Joe, please review Ray's posts and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Over 20% of his posts include a link to his site (
in addition to the one in his sig.) - that's 260+ additional links and growing.
I haven't criticised Ray, or his site, or his bikes, or his advice, or anything else for that matter - all I've asked him to do is stop linking to his site so much in his replies, and give some more in-depth advice instead.
I've even offered a signature re-work that would positively
invite people to visit his site, so please, calm down and put it into some perspective - I'm not trying to stop Ray posting here or being a part of the CC community.
I
don't think Ray is doing because he's trying to make revenue from his site; I
don't think he's doing it with any particular promotional intent; I
don't think he even realises just how many links he's posted.
It's his style, and that's fine, and I'm sure he's simply trying to be helpful - but I'd just like him to post the advice in his replies as opposed to just linking to his site.
He may well have a page on bike fitting that contains useful information for a person's query, but instead of simply replying with "
Bike-fit" why not post some additional information that is specific to the query, and then invite the poster to check the site link in his signature for more detailed information?
In one reply there are five separate links back to his site - why?
No one else shoe-horns so many links to their own site into their replies, and whilst Ray's site may well be very useful, a link is not often a good substitue for a thoughtful and knowledgable reply.
Ray is more than welcome to stay here and he is a valued member of the community, and I don't want to discourage his posting or dampen his enthusiasm - I'm just asking for a slight change of style.
Now, everyone, can we please get back to the idle senseless CC chatter that we all know and love?
Cheers,
Shaun
