It's a bit more complicated than that...
I thought of this thread this morning as I ate my Bovril on toast - no butter.

Toast must be eaten hot enough to melt butter. And toasted very pale. And made with high quality fresh bread. Otherwise (like my toast this morning) it's a way to disguise bread that's getting stale. Or bread that's so full of chemicals that it will never get stale. Some good things come out of Chorleywood (the train I'm on for a start), but not a bread recipe.

A worrying lack of discussion re an appropriate beverage to accompany this prandial delight? A hot cup of PG or Yorkshire tea (never Tetley), brewed so strong the spoon is electroplated with tannin, and fortified with 12 sugars is an essential accessory when enjoying such a repast.

Strong black coffee, no sugar, percolated from freshly ground Italian beans. :cuppa:

Or if the breakfast is for lunch, or later, a beer

I'm with you on the pale colour, but you need a serious rethink on the temperature when it's buttered. And it's plastic white all the way. Warburtons thick white has come out on top in the Nickyboy taste test

I can never decide whether to have the juice first or the coffee, or when to have second juice/coffee.

I prepare the coffee after my breakfast. If made before, it's not piping hot by the time I get to drink it.
Juice is definitely prior to eating though.
