I don't buy it in gallons or litres but by the £
Interesting point. For many years, I've filled up and rounded it off to the £ as it suits me to do it that way; each to their own.
However, when I was an HGV driver, I always did the same thing. One day my supervisor called me in as he'd had some fuel dockets in with odd amounts of pence on them. Long story short; turned out that an employee had been using the fuel account for his own car not knowing I rounded my truck fill up to the £ which my supervisor knew I did.
Swift exit of one employee - !

I’m sure that’s quite good fun, but I’ll stick to holiday cottages

Don't blame you. But fot short-notice long weekends with 2 dogs the Camper/Caravan combo works for us....

I noted the other day, the calculation has to be exact, even rounding up to the nearest 1/10th of a gallon makes a difference.
Computer stated 53.3 mpg. Brimmed , calculated it out to 51.5, close enough but I'd rounded up...it was only 4/ 100s. Put in the exact amount, let's say 25.64 lites instead of 25.6, it did bring it down to 50.5 mpg.
