Really TRUE odd factoids

I suspect a sizeable number of inventions sprung from the basic idleness of man. It probably started with Ug the Caveman thinking ‘I really want to hit Og over there, but I can’t be arsed to walk that far’. The next thing you know we have nuclear proliferation.

and some clever lazy people who do something once and think "I really can;t be bothered doing that 20 more times this week"
and go off and spend 100 times the effort making a machine to do it

they probably called them weirdos in the old days

nowadays we call them engineers

or weirdos

or "dedicated hobbyists" - which is often the same thing

There is a chapter in one of Robert Heinlein's novels (Time enough for love), called "The man who was too lazy to fail" about a naval person who applied himself to constructive laziness.

He kept inventing ways to get things done without having to ork.

We share over 60% of our DNA with banana's.

The claim that humans share over 60% of their DNA with bananas is a significant oversimplification and misrepresents the underlying science. While it is true that a large proportion of human genes have counterparts in bananas, this does not mean 60% of human DNA is shared with the fruit.

Only two teams in the history of English Football have beaten all the other 91 clubs in the top 4 leagues at a point in time. Notts County completed the "set" at the weekend when they beat Fleetwood Town. Port Vale completed their set in 21-22 season.

This must constantly change as teams are promoted and relegated.
The big prem sides are unlikely to have played the newly promoted Division 2 teams.

Yes clearly it does - hence me using the phrasing at "a point in time". There two "new" clubs to Div 2 each year, although they are often clubs that have previously dropped out of the league previously, like Notts County themselves. i.e Currently 2/3rd of the clubs in national league are former EFL clubs, so the although that make up of the 92 changes every season, brand new entrants to the 92 are quite rare.

Port Vale's achievement was all the more remarkable as they have never played in the top flight themselves ever, but have beaten all the current Prem & Champo teams at some point in history. I think they also re-achieved it last season when the beat Bromley who weren't in their original 91 list.

I just gave AI a task of finding out how many teams Crystal Palace have beaten, as they have played in all 4 divisions and yo yo’d around a lot.

AI appears to have given up trying. The answer it gave was 49, but said it was a conservative guess. So it appears that it couldn’t be bothered to actually work it out.

But it goes to show that beating all 91 is very hard.
