My first Post!

I have a 7 speed cassette with a Shimano Acera Derailleur and I have a problem changing up (to a higher gear). There is a 2 to 20 second delay before the change.

Things I have checked:
That the cable is clean, not snagging and oiled
That the Indexing is correct
That high and low setting are correct.

When checking the changes with the rear wheel off the ground, everything works fine but once on the road there is this annoying delay.

Any help gratefully received.

thanks

Charles

Hi Charles!

Sounds like your rear mech may be getting a bit lazy. Try some light spray-lube on all the pivots:
- The slant parallellogram
- Where the slant parallellogram meets the jockey cage
- The pivot around the mech hanger bolt

It is your chain give it a good lube and a wipe* and you should be fine

*
Spin the pedals backwards while you put the chain lube on.
Keep on spinning around 10 times or so.
Now get a clean rag and hold the chain at the bottom and run it backwards until it is clean.

It is called the Mickle method on cycle chat

Hi Spandex and Landslide

I have thoroughly cleaned the parallellogram and the chain and then oiled as instructed. It is fine now, so thanks to both.
