Reasonable saddles

Leisure Lakes have various sit bones measuring devices, they have Fizik test saddles which you can borrow, but they also sell Specialized saddles who offer a 30 day return facility. By that I mean, if it does not suit you they will take it back and you can buy another one (price difference only), for another 30 days. BTW I have a nearly new white Charge Spoon for 17.50 posted if you want it.

Fizik do a proper test saddle (in yellow) but Specialized 30 days it isn't very practical as you have to return the saddle in as new condition. How can you really test a saddle without being paranoid that the shop will not take it back? Ideally a test on a trainer but not everybody has one. I did my research and I ordered an Specialized saddle and I'm giving it a proper test and if it isn't good I'll sell it on but at least I don't have to worry that I might damage it.

Go on, tilt your head!
I have a Specialized Toupe, Charge Spoon and newly acquired Brooks. The Toupe still hurts me after about 40 miles and I don't think the Spoon is going to be any better however I have not put any bigger mileage on it yet, although it does for my short commute. I'm hoping the Brooks is going to be the one for me!!

Specialised only want it back clean, undamaged, and with the cardboard display packaging/ hanger thingy. Don't be paranoid........ride it, take care what you lean your bike against (well, you would anyway, wouldn't you?) and give it a wipe down before you take it back to the shop. I did 200 miles on each of 4 different Specialised saddles earlier this year, before buying a Spoon. Oh, and (don't laugh), try some of the Ladies saddles from Specialised. Five or 7 years ago, they would have been in the men's range: and they were certainly more comfortable to me than any of the men's saddles.

My LBS must be quite fussy about it then. They told me they would take the saddle back in as new condition so they can re-sell it again. They warned me they examine the saddle in detail. I felt they were warning me it would be unlikely they would take the saddle back  so I bought one online same price and free delivery. A friend of mine has one and I really liked it but I only did 30 miles on it and I felt very good on it so I thought it was worth the gamble  Also, I don't think Specialized offers a full refund, you have to end up with a Spech saddle in the end, at least that is what my LBS said.

As for using women saddles, I have heard people doing this with great success. Women also have success with men saddles.

Most saddles are extremely unreasonable for backsides new to cycling. The longer you ride, the more saddles become reasonable.

I'm a big fan of Charge Spoons. Cheap as chips, reasonably light, and super comfy. Some people loath them. You could pretty much put (any saddle) in place of "Charge Spoon" in that sentence, and that will cover all the posts you will ever receive on the topic, because there is nothing so personal as what you find comfortable to sit on on a bike.
I got a charge spoon, and up to now have found my 1and half hour rides very comfy. Thanks pal for bringing that make to my attention
