Get a Pro-Ject, they're the best at the cheaper end of the spectrum, you shouldn't need to copy LP's to a digital format, records are an acceptable media.

Actually my Motorhead stuff which is still at my Mum's which is a strong incentive to get a turntable...that and Mrs N's Northern Soul singles collection

I clean the vinyl, I also have a small stylus brush made from unicorn hair and a tiny bottle of pixie tears, at least that's what I think it is considering the price.

Project actually make some decent kit too, Maz has got one of these,



and it is pretty good. Not as good as my Thorens (modded TD 166 with a RB 250 arm) but not far off.
