Shimano is fine. If the other components in good condition then go new

This is about the standard of the freewheels I'm looking at (and a strong contender):

This the 52t chainwheel (the 42 is much the same):

The freewheel looks fine but the chainring is rather worn but should work okay with a new chain. Give it a go.

Wasn't Renold chains the goto chains in those days?

What happened to them?
And Fiamme rims?

They were, got out of cycling and motorbikes to concentrate on industrial chains.
The only modern 3/32" 5-7 speed that come close are Wippermann Connex (7xx) in their various degrees of rustproofness.

Thanks, these are readily available in Brazil. I'm actually looking for a gold chain, ideally, as I'm trying to match the spec and look of my frame in the 1983 Somec catalogue. There's a KMC X8 in gold, however the local seller insists that it is 2/32" and not 3/32. From what I see, I don't think 2/32 exists as a chain standard. It would be 1/16" anyway.
