Hi all.

The front crankset? - not sure if that's what you call it.... on my wife's Ridgeback Adventure bike has split / broken and needs replaced.

Anybody suggest:
What this part is actually called - it's got 3 toothed wheels beside the pedals!
All it says is "Shimano" and "Dual SIS".

And where best to get one in UK / Scotland

Hope someone can help as she uses it to get to work

Cheers

Hi, you need a replacement triple chainset. I have a Ridgeback Adventure and the fixing is square taper, that is if you look through the hole on the middle of the chainwhell where the axle goes through it is square. Later ones have splines, but I don't know if these are SIS. If you want to retain the existing gearing you need to count the teeth on the chainwheels, especially the biggest and smallest. You want someting like this Ebay item,

Shimano chainset providing yours is a tapered square. You will also need a crank extractor to pull the cranks of the axle.

I am sure people on here who are more familiar with what works with what will be along soon with suggestions.
