I was involved in collision with a car on Friday evening which resulted in no damage to my bike and two sore and slightly grazed knees. The driver stopped and I have the incident on film (unable to upload at work, but i will try later)
The car failed to give way at a give way line and did not see me, resulting in her hitting me from the side and carrying me along for a couple of metres. I was lit up like a christmas tree in full high viz, so no excuse for a SMIDGY (Sorry Mate I Didn't See You).

My Question is this;

- I want to report it as a collison so it goes on some official stats and the driver may get a warning (written or verbal) I do not wish to take it further. I have tried the Metropolitan police roadsafe website, which you can only report near misses on https://secure.met.police.uk/roadsafelondon/.
The other Metropolitan police website suggests filling in a form and handing it to my local police station. You can not post or email it? http://content.met.police.uk/Article/Collision-forms-and-reports/1400005513174/1400005513174

Any ideas on how I can report it without having to spend my evening going through lots of questions and standing in a queue in a police station?

It may be wrong but I did read for an RTA to be recorded then an Ambulance has to have attended !?

Doesn't need an Ambo.

You can report it to the police, and you can tell them you are happy for it not to be taken any further and don't wish to go to court, as you are happy the other driver admitted fault, is insured and licensed, and you have the evidence on camera.

Generally the officer taking the report will be more than happy to record and file the matter with no further action. That said, I gave this advice on these forums once, and because the driver was so rude and denied being at fault when advised by the police, the officer persuaded the poster to give a statement and took the matter to court!

The police can never "force" you to give a statement or go to court - that's your choice. I would strongly recommend reporting it anyway. You don't want them to try and duck out six months later and say you were making up the injuries. Additionally, we can check that the driver was licensed, was insured, and the company knew who was driving.

The last couple of times I've been to a met police station, there's been no queue. I'd just go in and report

There's a website you can report so it gets registered as a stat. Will need to wrack my brain as to what it's called!!

The driver should report to her insurance too.

What do you wish to achieve by reporting. Presumably she was apologetic and probably feels crap about it and will look out more in future

Just so they know it's not an ideal junction and the fact that she should have quite easily seen me and was obviously not paying attention. For all I know, she might not be insured or have had similar accidents over the past few years.

The main issue is that it could have quite easily been a lot worse.

That website wouls be great if you could remember it.

Sounds like you should report to police.

The website is more just for recording accidents involving cyclists. I think it's something to do with barts

Yeah, you can report for statistics reasons to roadjustice.org.uk, which is run by the CTC and as such is aimed specifically at cyclists' safety. It was once known as Stop SMIDSY.

However, they say that:
Currently, only the Metropolitan Police accept reports from Road Justice.
As such, anyone outside of London might still want to go ahead and report it to the police, though from what I can tell, you're using Met Police anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, I used the form and it covered what I was looking for.

Are you going to sue her for the injuries she caused you? You will need details of her insurers for which you will probably need to report it to the police who should, but they often refuse, provide you with the driver's insurance details. You might need a solicitor to get these details as the police might not play ball with you as happened to me. Otherwise knock it on the head and forget about it.
