The vast majority of places were by simple ballot - 20,000 being the declared figure allowed in from a 55,000 entry.

Choice is either do it this way or do it as mass panic entry based on a specific time - both will tend to leave the e that don't getting feeling annoyed.

There was no requirement to raise anything for charity as part of this - just the entry cost

They also retained 5,000 charity places which the charities have then bought and are using to raise funds.

Not sure what else could have been done on this.

UCLH Charity (for which I work) has two places going for this. Funds will go specifically to our Leukaemia and Lymphoma Unit (more information here) and you can contact Sara Goldman, sara.goldman@uclh.nhs.uk or telephone 020 344 79526 for more information. The projects supported by this fund include providing wigs for patients whose treatment has caused hair loss, nursing research and development, and medical equipment.

There will be a fundraising target (to be negotiated with Sara!) but no draconian T&Cs stating that the individual has to cough up any shortfall.

We've still got places for @Ride_London - and we're only asking for a minimum of £350 of sponsorship dosh!
