Riding whilst using only a rear, seems to be coming a bit more commonplace.

I've seen a couple of riders in the last week or so with red lights front and rear.
I'm guessing that they've been caught out with flat batteries and have put their second / back up rear light on the front to at least be seen?
Or maybe it's a new trend I've not heard about?

I've got a magicshine which worked well yesterday even though I hadn't charged it for a month and wasn't sure how much charge it had left.My fronts were fine as I have charged them the night before but my frame lights and other steady back light struggled but I had a spare battery pack with me so I got by.

Just reminded me...White on rear red on front...wtf?

The new Boris Bike green flashing on the front, irritating as fk.I mean wtf?

Straddle the line, discord and rhyme
On my way home from work the other day, two cyclists caught my attention. The first was waiting at a junction with a stupid bright beam pointed stupid straight ahead on stupid pulse mode and was stupid distracting and stupid dazzling and made my eyes stupid hurt so I couldn't stupid concentrate on anything stupid else. The second was a deliveroo rider with no lights at all who was perfectly visible to me, enabling me to mentally note his presence whilst also being aware of other traffic and the rest of my environment. I was on foot at the time, but I know which of these cyclists I'd rather encounter if I was driving. Can you guess which one?

You never stated the level of light , which must be a factor. Winjim

I really don't get it.Since when did green flashing become legal? I don't mind white flashing but green seems to be ridiculous.I never really had any problems spotting a boris bike before.
When I rode one on Thursday it appeared that the green projected image was steady, unless the bike was stationary, when it switched to flashing after a short while. Where this gets,s us on the legality question I don't know. I'm assuming the bike still had its regular white and red lights, but didn't check.

Edit: Looking at the promotional video on the Santander website, yes the white flashing light is still there.

Without wanting to get into helmet debate, I Have a head torch zip tied to my visor as a real emergency back up light in case rechargeable and spare die. Had to use it the other day. (Aimed low so as to not dazzle) more of a be seen, but my commute is well lit roads.
