It's a sycamore. It's a very large weed - wouldn't put anything past it.

A weed is any wild plant that grows in an unwanted place, especially in a garden or field where it prevents the cultivated plants from growing (Cambridge english dictionary). Not really an accurate description of the felled tree.

Exactly. Sycamores are very hard to kill, and as the original grew in that location, I have no doubt it will regrow at some point.

How pretty it will be is another matter, unless they carefully prune the branches until it grows into a 'tree' shape.

Don't worry, they're still thin enough to take care of with loppers. Then that poison paint on the cut. Not that I'm in thinking of it, honest officer it wasn't me just because I said it was.

If they were to get off does that clear the way for me to walk on to anyone’s land with my chainsaw and cut down a tree without consequence. Maybe cut down a couple in your garden one night for a laugh. 😱

No but I bet that would be treated as a civil matter and wouldn't get much public money to chase after you to punish you.. That's the point really, it should have been handled with the true damage caused not the offence and daily fail outrage like it has now. This is not a special tree.

agreed, but that was either on or overshadowing M&B land, which is why they won't end up in court, they had it hacked down before a TPO could be put in place.
