Baby wipes are good for all bike cleaning jobs - the moisture is usually alcohol.

Get the £1 a 100 generic ones, not poncy scented efforts at three times the price.

I use baby wipes too, very good, great for taking away on holiday with bike too. But are they really capable of cleaning road tar off?

Thinners, petrol, disc cleaner etc will do the job perfectly well but are, or contain, volatile compounds which are extremely harmful to all living things. Including cyclists. I think they should be avoided whenever possible.

WD40 is less nasty than most and is great at removing tar and sticker glue.
