What do you call it?

Me I've always called it roasted cheese as that's what my Dad calls it. Causes some amount of debate when people hear me call it that!

Toasted cheese. It's a Lanarkshire / Glasgow thing.

It's like cheese on toast, but you mix the cheese to a paste with things like mustard and either milk or beer.

Cheese on toast. Worcestershire sauce is good. Or I just ladle on branston pickle (the sandwich variety with the smaller bits) after it comes from under the grill.

...or....croque monsieur...or better still...croque madame. But that's another country altogether.

The gallant Welsh, by all degrees
Have one delightful habit
They cover toast with melted cheese
And call the thing a rabbit

And though no fur upon it grows
And though it has no twitching nose
Nor flashing tail behind it
Yet taste a piece, and very good
I'm bound to say you'll find it.

Well, let's see... it's Toast, but with some Cheese on it.. so Cheese on Toast suits us fine.

However, toast the bread, add Chutney and Cheese on top of that before retoasting slightly to melt the Cheese.. and it's called 'Bloody Gorgeous. ;)
