Whilst we use our ebikes around town and our local area, the main reason we bought them was to take on holiday and to extend our range into places where either parking the motorhome would be awkward or where it is too hilly for me to comfortably cycle.
I mostly use Google maps for working out distances and routes, but its not so good for estimating battery consumption. I've started using this route planner: https://www.ebikemaps.com/ - you set your bike details and your riding style and in theory it estimates how much any route will take out of the battery. Haven't tried it out yet to see how it compares to reality though.
