I was going to say this sounds like a copy of the series of books that included The Weathermonger, but google tells me this was known as The Changes trilogy. Never knew the made a series out of it.

Does anyone else remember rushing home from school to watch.." the tomorrow people".. it was shown between 1973 and 1979, i used to think it was absolutely fantastic, , they tried to remake ita couple of years ago , not a patch on the original, ( or maybe i should take the rose tinted specs off).

the (scary) signature tune and much of the incidental music is Delia Derbyshire. Her arrangement of the Doctor Who theme, the original one, is much better than the (admittedly still not bad) full orchestral version we now have.

Being in the building trade I used to love watching auf wiederhesen pet it was quite true to life apart from Dennis and Oz's awful bricklaying skills .Jimmy Nail then went on to star in Crocodile shoes as a country and western singer I think he wrote the theme tune and sang the the tune ,just like Dennis Waterman in Minder

The John Duttine series of Day of the Triffids did have a re-run recently. I enjoyed it immensely even (especially?) with the limitations of triffid special effects.
Comedy wise, Monty Pytho and Milligan's Q series were always hit and miss, moments of absolute brilliance surrounded by filler sketches, the good bits are still as good today but the filler bits in both (moreso Q), show their age and the social mores of their time far more explicitly.

ooh you could be right at that , that's confused me now. Looks like they're both credited with the Tomorrow People music album, and Simpson is indeed mentioned as the composer of the theme tune. He certainly did some terrific incidental music for Doctor Who.....
