Lots of sensationalism in the press over this, but at the end if the day its a .50 cal anti-personnel and anti-material rifle.

It's no more powerful than the .50 cal Barretts, MacMillan TAC50, and AW50 that UK special forces have been using for decades - they all fire exacltly the same round.

With the right type of ammo the existing versons can similarly take down slow moving aircraft, knock tracks off tanks, etc. It's a new rifle, a bit lighter, a bit more compact, but fundamentally it's nothing new in terms of capability. The media are making a big deal out of little.

There are other Special Forces in the world
and one of them tends to hang out near (or in )water and have been known to wear green berets
They don't tend to like the limelight as much as that other lot - or so I have been told
