Saying Hello When Passing / Ettiquette

Hello!

I got passed about 2 weeks ago by a fella on a roadie. He said "hello mate" and it made me smile.

Then, yesterday, the first time I've passed someone else since this incident and I didn't say hello.

The etiquette part of cycling is somewhat of a mystery to me, as I've yet to ride with other cycling enthusiasts and I'm still a bit green.

Anyway - should I have said hello?

I'm also interested in hearing peoples thoughts on this in general TBF.

Some do, some don't.

I'm often first to wave or say hello, and more often than not the PRO RIDER going in the opposite direction snubs my sub £1000 hunk of metal.

I always wave back.

It's entirely your choice.

So long as you don't wait until you are just about to pass and then shout HELLO right in my ear! Like the clown who regularly passes me. It really annoys me and I'm about ready to thump him next time.

Yes, and Wiggins may well reply - Froome however, would be too busy chatting with his stem to even notice you !

I only say hello to a cyclist if they're not wearing a helmet, I just shout **** otherwise.
