Son #2 had his prom last week. I think it's a lot less pressured and expensive for boys. He's got a suit already so he wore that.

"Prinks" (pre-drinks) at a Parents' house for the boys. Taxis to The Prom itself at some hotel or other. Then an after party at another Parents' house until the small hours (as no alcohol allowed at the Prom itself). They seemed to have a good time and it's harmless fun

I was shocked to hear recently that it's spread to nursery children as they head for primary school. See http://metro.co.uk/2015/07/15/gradu...ee-year-olds-are-an-actual-thing-now-5296856/

More fool those parents who fall for this pointless tat.

My son had his nursery graduation last summer. He had some smart clothes 'left over' from a wedding earlier in the year so he wore those. Instead of walking, my wife took him to/from school in our rather modest Ford Fiesta. I was more surprised by the mortarboard and gown the kids wore when they collected their nursery diploma.

We celebrated the end of school with a disco. Ordinary clothes, no dinner jackets or girls in posh frocks.

I went to it on my motorbike, and recall nearly falling off it on the way out of the school gates, trying to pull a huge wheelie......
