Hi,

I have a very good track pump which I use on my road bike which has a Presta valve fitting. Ive just bought a mountain bike and my wife has done the same and both have Schradar valves. Is there a way of converting so that I can use the original track pump? I dont want to replace all the tubes at once.

Ive seen a small brass converter but am reluctant to go that way as they were some bad reviews about them leaking.

Thanks,

Mike

you can either:

1. buy the converter that you mention
2. change all the tubes as you mention (packs of 5 for £10 online)
3. buy a new track pump that fits both types of valve

I have used the small bress adaptor, it came with a footpump. Does the job when there is only a schraeder pump head available. I guess over time the o-ring that creates the seal might wear or go brittle, but the adaptors are only cheap. Certinly worth getting a few in and using them and replacing the tubes with prestas when they need it.
