really wasn't. it went from Chislehurst to Hammersmith...not many opportunities on that commute for more than 40MPH. Higher revs sure but why?

My 955i sprint was better..I think I got mid 40's and I used it for decent runs so it got to cruise a lot more.
Bloody good bike and I preferred it to the vfr 800 iih

Whichever colour does not have black wheels. Silver is acceptable, black is a style fail.
There was a time a couple of years ago when my Versys was out of action and I commuted the 25 miles each way on the M5 on my 110 Honda vision. It was only manageable if I tucked in behind an artic and hoped for no hills.
I've just thought...there's a killer punch here .

Vespas have central heating. I cant be positive but I think hondas dont. In fact I don't know what other scooters do.

In the winter, the hot vents at the sides of the front fender spill hot air under your toucano skirt and keep your bottom half really toasty. Pop the bib thing over your head for maximum effect.

Makes winter commuting bearable, even in a suit (with a jacket of course)

That pic is so dispiriting, if I opened my garage and saw it, I'd kick it over...............just back from Naples, Honda SH's outnumbered Vespa GTS's by about 20:1, they'll be a better scooter no doubt about it, but they were background. They guys with suits had Vespas.

I agree with Paul about scooters, totally predictable commute times, peak torque at all times beating most cars from a standing start or rolling acceleration, dry legs and often body, mega mpg, decent residuals (Vespa!) and luggage capacity. All Europe "gets" them apart from the UK.
Sorry chaps, you're going to be disappointed in me. After many forum searches, conversations and Googles I felt that the GTS wasn't going to be the right bike to see me through all-year scooting. Clubs were recommending disassembling parts of the bike and properly rust-proofing it, and that's not reassuring for a brand new bike. And they're not as reliable as the Honda. So yesterday this boy was delivered....

For Bristol filtering it's perfect. Narrow, no gears or clutch to consider, and it will beat anything away from the lights.
Good luck in the winter!

Only kidding, as was said above, both winners here. Hondas are bullet proof and scooters in general are so plug and play, they need virtually nothing doing to them to keep them going.

Enjoy.

Ps, since this thread was started I was knocks off my scooter. Very low speed (I was sat at a junction and was rear ended) so my vespa now has a huge dent on one side. Still rides like a dream, just picked her up, turned the key and off she went.
