Securing bikes to car racks

I use 2 cable locks. I think some people get a bit obsessed about getting their bikes stolen.

Here is an easy way of keeping your bike secure on a rack if you have to leave the car for a short time.
PETS AT HOME do plastic coated steel cables for tethering dogs to those spike things that you screw into the ground
They do them in 3,6 or 9 metre lengths
Pass the cables through the wheels, seat rails and frame of bikes on rack then put ends of cable in car doors. Clip both ends together inside car and close doors, job done
You might find that there is a whistle where the door seal becomes permanently distorted after a while

Mate went to buy one for his roof and guy in chain reaction said to him "are you mad, carbon bikes shouldn't be secured like that they aren't strong enough to have pressure applied in certain ways"
Dunno how correct the guy was though and the mate does have a 3k bike.
