Good sentence for doing this but the guy who left me in the road after hitting me only got a driver awareness course and had to pay compensation, he did exactly the same as this prat did but in a car ! Justice needs to be sorted if they are giving harsh punishment for cyclists, but a pat on the back sentance for someone in a motor vehicle !

He did a hit and run ?

Oh yes ! But the idiot pulled out of a Cul-De-Sac and his car was a very distinctive Audi A4,it was not hard to catch up with him ^_^

Well deserved but can't help but think if a motorist did it they would get a slap on the wrist and maybe a pat on the back for not killing the kid.

You'd be thinking wrong then. Is there any justification for trying to foster an us and them mentality of misinformation ?...most people on here both cycle and drive.

Whereas (not that it excuses, but I'm surprised it hasn't even come up) the guy did at least have the decency to hand himself in. Almost certainly would have got away scot free otherwise.

There are ten hit-and-runs by drivers in London every single day. Most go uncaught.

I got hit and run in my car by another driver. Driver was tracked down by police (two weeks after the event, damage had been long repaired), initially denied being involved in the incident at all, then started to admit little bits at a time.
No charges were brought.

I got deliberately knocked off my bike in East London, car had fake plates, nothing we can do, said the cops.

Has a car driver ever been charged with Gbh for hitting a cyclist?

Sadly the chap did not hand himself in and only held his hands up when a Police man knocked on his door but at least it was sorted and I hope he has learned to notice that a pair of Niterider front lamps are not easily missed. To be honest I think he may have been drunk from the night before to have missed those babies !
