I have been mooching at safety razors for reasons I'd guess are familiar to others, they don't gunk up like cartridges and so handle multi day stubble far better. What would be a good starting point?
I bought an Edwin Jagger for about twenty notes. Heavy brass with a thick layer of chrome plate. Genuinely works better than my v old hand me down cheap safety razor. Got mine from the poncy sounding English Shaving Company. Other retailers and other pukka brands available. As said upthread blades are v cheap indeed.
If buying a Jagger, I'd reccomend the rubber handle in preference to the v slightly knurled handle as it's better to hold. I have both as it was worth leaving a 2nd one in my going away bag. There is also an octagonal handle, one with deeper knurling, and a longer handle one - each of which sound promising.
I'd not bother with all the lotions and potions as I just use normal soap or shower gel, whatever comes to hand.
