Merkur Futur and feather blades. But I only shave twice a week max. During the shaving season. I won a cut-throat but have yet to master it.

I quite like a trip to the barbers for a hot towel shave.
I have never had a 'proper' shave in a barbers, I was only looking last week trying to find somewhere in Sheffield & it's not an easy thing to do as most barbers seem to only cut hair & not shave.

Shaving subscription? Nopety nope.....shave a couple of times per week max so subscription would be wasteful for moi. Was travelling overseas for work about a year ago and picked up a Boots own brand razor for next to nothing and it gives a decent shave. Great VFM.

A couple o pals got married a few years back and for the stags weekend we popped into Geo Trumper in Lahndahn for the full shave pamper. Twas OK, but 40 quid wizznae cheap. Told the shaver that I am a sensitive soul with sensitive skin, so go cannae. Slicing my neck open in three places precluded any chance of a tip!

[QUOTE 4952400, member: 259"]There's a poncy barbers near Devonshire Green that does wet shaves, but it costs a bloody fortune. My nephew went there for the works on his wedding day.

Fancy having enough time for that nonsense on your wedding day. I had a speech to write ! Need to get priorities right

As I can't fully understand this post I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume the £40? price tag included back, sack and crack services. Either that or you were mistaken for illiterate foreigners and grossly overcharged.

I have been mooching at safety razors for reasons I'd guess are familiar to others, they don't gunk up like cartridges and so handle multi day stubble far better. What would be a good starting point?

There was a thread all about it a while back, I think it was called - real man shaving - or something similar.

I bought an Edwin Jagger for about twenty notes. Heavy brass with a thick layer of chrome plate. Genuinely works better than my v old hand me down cheap safety razor. Got mine from the poncy sounding English Shaving Company. Other retailers and other pukka brands available. As said upthread blades are v cheap indeed.

If buying a Jagger, I'd reccomend the rubber handle in preference to the v slightly knurled handle as it's better to hold. I have both as it was worth leaving a 2nd one in my going away bag. There is also an octagonal handle, one with deeper knurling, and a longer handle one - each of which sound promising.

I'd not bother with all the lotions and potions as I just use normal soap or shower gel, whatever comes to hand.
