Shimano R500s - what to replace them with?

Not aiming to upgrade, but as far as I can see, these are out of production, so what would be the ideal replacement? They are quite worn rim-wise, otherwise I'm happy with them.

I'm completely new to this road bike stuff, so what say you, CCers?

Replace them with R501's available for £69.99/set Sky blue or green decals only. Excellent entry level wheels and a great price.

And presumably (remember, I know nozzing, nozzing...) they will be OK with the eight speed gears, or to put it another way, apart from the model number, they are pretty much identical?

Id suggest 501s too. Got 500s, perfect wheels for the money and circ I read somewhere they're almost exactly the same as 500s barring the stickers.
