Shoes: MTB vs Road on a road bike

Three bolt cleats won't rotate on the shoe if one of the bolts loosens slightly. Two bolt SPD cleats will rotate if one of the bolts loosens slightly, which can make it impossible to disengage thereby causing a clipless moment.

Don't ask me how I know this.

I've got spd sl's and use road shoes when I'm on my good bike and spd's with mtb shoes on my commuter. Cannot say I've ever noticed any difference.
