really? I time them to come in my day off, it always takes 2 days. But, should I not be in, they leave the delivery with neighbourghs, or you can rearrange delivery on line, they use parcel force here. I my previous address I got them to leave the stuff in my recycling bin.

I agree that if you don't want to sign up for an account then you should not have to, but if you sign up do then I think the company should use a double opt-in to make sure that it is genuine.

You get these credit card frauds from time to time. IIRC, CRC did have one security breach which they owned up to and got a firm of specialists to sort out the problem.

I've had my Halifax card details leaked to some crooks before now and it is almost impossible to work out who did it unless you have only used your card in one store.

Are you sure it's Amazon though, and not some random seller hawking their goods via Amazon Marketplace. I've never had any success with the Marketplace thing, granted I've only tried a couple of times, but each time I wasn't aware I wasn't actually dealing with Amazon until I came to chase the order up. This was a number of years ago now, so perhaps it's more transparent now, but it put me right off.

No, it's still valid: you need to buy from amazon proper to get good service

Amazon is great i ask for amazon gift vouchers for birthday and xmas then credit them to my account so that i always have money to spend on crap and kindle books when i am in the mood to waste some money.

The wish list is also a good idea so you can give friends/relations access to it so they know what you want.

When you are dealing with a reputable retailer, there are advantages to accounts as well. I tend to use certain sites regularly and I appreciate not having to fill in my details each time I buy from them. Similarly, if they have any special deals on offer, I'm quite happy to get an email telling me about it. If it's not of interest to me, MS Outlook has a 'delete' button.
At the end of the day, the retailer is quite entitled to set conditions, and you are quite entitled to shop elsewhere.

Creating accounts doesn't bother me. I use the same username and password for any that don't store my card details, and something slightly more secure for those that do. I quite like getting the marketing emails from them. It's quite nice to browse the new stuff and see what's available, and there have been a few times when an email has arrived telling me that something I buy regularly is on offer, so I take the chance to stock up while it's cheap.

It really p's me off to have to go through the whole business of setting up account, password, reminder, mother's maiden name etc, etc, etc just so as to find out what the carriage charge might be. In fact I don't bother any more. If a supplier isn't upfront about carriage charges I just go elsewhere to one that is - or preferably - has free p+p.

Agree completely. That and having to go through the whole process just to see if they accept Paypal (It's the only payment method I use) :cursing:
