As I have said before, I do a 20 mile round trip to the video shop if I want a dvd (can be 10 if I go main road way). I have now got a trailer for Miss CP, and can't for the life of me figure out why I shouldn't use that to do the weekly shop?

Does anyone else bike/shop.

I think 3 small shops a week is manageable?

Go get on with it.
I have a trailer (Camcart in the reviews section) used regularly for the shopping. I use one of the smaller 'handy shopper' type trolleys and drop the carts plastic box in it so I have to exercise some restraint over what goes in it and not buy more than will fit in it!
At 90litres it will take most of a larger weekly shop. Your trailer may well be hold more.
Also have a couple of bikebin panniers that are used for nipping out for the inevitable odds and ends that get forgotten. Again I take these into the shop and stick them in the trolley to ensure I don't buy more than they can hold.

Another plus of the trailer is I can drop the (full) box on the trailer at the supermarket straight from the trolley, cycle home, unhitch it from the bike and take it into the kitchen to unload it. Eliminates the loading / unloading car part.

We just go online and get Tesco to deliver the shopping in their nice van.

It costs £5.00 but:

It only takes a few minutes because we just repeat the previous week's order with minor changes.

Our weekly shopping bill is around 25% lower because we don't walk around the supermarket picking up all the 2 for 1 offers we don't really need then throwing the stuff away at the end of the week.

We don't waste time and money on fuel as well as clogging up the roads and putting miles on the car.

Bikepete and I do our shopping like that all the time, even going to the carboot to pick up cheap veg. It's a really easy way to do the shopping.

We shop for the month, then buy bread/milk and other perishables as and when... usually fills car boot plus a few bags on the kids laps in back seat and foot wells, would need a mighty big trailer for that.

We tend to shop once a week, on a Friday on the way home from work. We can easily fit what we need for two in a trailer.

Hauling it the ten miles home always seems to be my job though...

I tend to shop online for all big/bulky things (don't have a car) - not at Tesco though (most online shops will do free delivery if you order over a certain amount).

Fresh stuff gets shopped for about once or twice a week, and fits on my combo of folding basket in the front, rear rack, and my backpack.

I'm a five minute walk from Sainsburys, so I rarely even bother to take the bike - thanks to one way systems, it's easier and probably quicker to walk (allowing for locking up time). I do one 'big' shop a week - usually one small rucksack, and one shopping bag, and then top up milk and odds and ends as I need them in between.

I buy quite a lot of reduced stuff - as long as I have room in the freezer to divvy it up into portions, or I'll eat it in time. Quite often, my entire shop is either reduced, or the Basics range - there's class for you...

We do a weekly shop on a Saturday morning by bus with a shopping trolley. Trolley plus a couple of carrier bags takes enough for the two of us.

I live so close to the market and Sainsbury's that I've never used my trailer for shopping.

My stylish tartan shopping trolley is dead handy.
