Yeh, fantastic. Not. High pressure, high risk of death.

And I work in a town with a Marine base and know how 'not fun' it is. And I work closely with the 'welfare' side of the Navy. It ain't fun.

So go have fun now, then maybe you'll be better prepared for the serious side.

Better prepared for the serious side?
I've had enough of "the serious side" of joining the forces, via relatives and friends who are currently no longer with us, to know enough of the serious side. Yes it started out as a childish ambition, but I have researched and carefully thought this one through many many times over. Also I do have fun now - I just work hard at the same time. Deep apologises if this is such a crime to yourself.

Sorry I could not resist this - maybe your aunties view of 'welfare' towards Marines might be different to mine ;)

She doesnt just do Marines, she does the whole army people;)
Im with Noodley on this, you all spend too long stressing and not long enough relaxing

So if you want to be in the Marines go and have fun for 4 years without the stress of Uni. Cos it sounds as if you'll just think you'll have to push yourself to get good grades. And that will involve little fun.

Sorry you are not aquiented with working hard and having fun? The two can go hand in hand you know.

You have no idea how much time I spend stressing/relaxing?
I'm not a workahloic - I just do what is asked of me to the best of my ability, and then possibly read around the subject (as it can be interesting). I am quite used to "letting my hair down" be it via cycling, running, triathlon or getting out.

No crime, I just hate seeing people not having fun when they should be. I now see kids (sorry, I'm an old bugger and 'kids' covers from ages 5-21 for me) being told by other old buggers to do things in a certain way cos it'll be better in the long run. It's just not true.

What I'm trying to say is chil a bit, don't push yourself cos someone else expects you to, and make your own choices in life. If that is to join the Marines that's all well and good, but make sure you have fun on the way. Don;t beat yourself up about 'achievements' just for the sake of it.

The choice to retake my first AS year, with completely different subjects in order to try and turn thing around was mine. Yes people encouraged this, and yes some strongly discouraged this, but I did it nontheless as I want to keep as many options open as possible. By no working hard, all I am doing is causing extra stress come exams, and closing doors.

Sorry for dragging this into seriousness but I thought there was a vibe of 'pressure' to do things and not have fun. If you're all having fun as well....well, keep having fun.

Well, there you have it. Photography exams? What's that like?

Question 1: Why are you doing this subject?
The end.

Well, in a photography exam, you spend a set time in a room(5 hours for the GCSE one i did) printing off your work that you did before, mounting it up on black paper, then trimming, then putting them on card.
It doesnt sound much for 5 hours, but i had 15mins at the end to spare. It took me a long time to trim pictures down, i had to edit some more aswell. Mounting up takes a long time aswell. Putting it on black paper, then card.
Its something like 30% exam, 70% coursework. And for coursework you just do the same for the exam, just not in a room for 5 hours. You do it over a long time.
