Today i was up "early doors" and shifted thirty square feet of concrete flags firstly into the back of my car then from the car into my garden which entails negotiating a flight of steps up into the garden as my house is elevated from road level. Legs are now aching somewhat after lugging that lot to the car then from the car to where they are now.

The question now is, should I attempt the forty mile round trip I had planned on my bike tomorrow or rest the old legs?

Meta ion, would be the person to give advice on this matter. Personally I would say do the ride as only that way will you know if you could have done it.

Thanks for the encouragement folks, i was a bit dubious as to whether I should or not but I will do what talliman says and abort if I feel the need. I will report back to let you know how I got on. Looking forward to getting out on the bike tomorrow and the forecast is looking promising.

I would do the ride and if you don't feel upto it after 20 miles you can abort the ride.

I did a 50 mile ride and fought about aborting the ride after 20 miles but carried on and it was the best feeling as i managed to do what i wanted to do.

He has legs that talk!
Not only that, I've heard his feet can smell!

Meanwhile, thinking about it, a lot of lifting and hauling, while tiring, doesn't use cycling muscles that much. If there are hills or speed that need honking up, then I'd expect weak legs. If it's covering the distance at your own pace and easy gearing, the legs might be fine.
