Should Primož Roglic swallow his pride and retire?

Almost as imperceptibly as it began, the Roglic era came to an end this week.
Let's face it, he's 35, and if he wants to complete a hat trick and become world class at a 3rd discipline, unless it's chess, he needs to dismount now and focus.
What next for Primož: Stunt man?

Well for sure you could say that but we will have to see ah

The usual rebuttal is that he came to cycling later than most pro racers, so should be able to ride longer. Will he want to take the record for the oldest grand tour winner? Still 6 or 7 seasons to go for that. Another Vuelta win, to take sole ownership of the record for most wins? I think both Roglic̆ and sponsors will be interested in the latter for a few years yet.

He's not going to the Vuelta this year is he? I agree he probably fancies that record.

Isn't that pesky Pog fellow doing the Vuelta this year?

This year's Vuelta will be a Pogattoir and next year could see a resurgent Ayuso claiming glory on home turf. Who knows, maybe Vingegaard might fancy riding his bike more than once a year? At least he's not holding a wealth of GC talent back in his team.

The killer for me are his year on year PCS rankings. It's beginning to look like the wrong end of a bell curve for him. As far as I know, he doesn't have Red Bull's pants down in a Froomey fashion and this is contract renewal year.

It's a shame as I like him, and despite him being dismissed by some of the press corps, I think he's got plenty of wit and character about him.

Vingegaard is down for the Vuelta this year, though that could change obviously

Rog could do a Nibali and win Le Tour on an edition when the main riders crash out?

Unlikely, but ....

I do feel a bit sorry for him, losing that TDF must haunt him forever.

If the main riders crash out, wouldn't Roglic be lying under them at the scene of the crash with 2 Ineos riders? 😉
