I'm fairly sure he didn't shout dickhead, although that's what I thought at the time it happened. I think the other comments on the lines of f@cker or faggot are probably right. Of course it might have been all innocent.

If you freeze it at 0:55s, the guy still has his mouth open (the video is a little behind the audio) and is actually looking past you to the houses, so I think their story holds up. It definitely started with an 'M', listening to the front facing cam. And the driver's face at 2:06 makes it seem as if he thought you were disabled and in some kind of wheelchair bicycle. 8-)

I got shouted at on a Boris bike on Saturday - the white van man shouted "lucky saddle". I smiled and took this as a compliment

How fast can you turn your head as you drive past a cyclist? Not that fast, which is why he's still looking past me once the bearing starts to change rapidly. Secondly, the houses are finished at that point, so he's not looking at any.

I'm pretty certain he doesn't say Mikey, which is confirmed because they don't make any reference to knowing my youtube channel. Plus why else would he be trying to hide behind the driver? Definitely felt guilty about something.

My take on the video is that he shouted across to the houses on the left (one is still visible at 53s, presumably there are others), at his mate who just happens to be called Mikey or Marky (which I thought was the coincidence in the video title, and it does happen). They then drive on their way until they're approached by a cyclist being a bit confrontational, which is why they were wary at the beginning. The passenger wasn't trying to hide, his seat is just further back than the driver's is. Once you'd told them you thought they'd said d1ckhead, they both laugh at the same time when they realise how ridiculous it is. They couldn't have faked that reaction, and if they had have shouted at you, they'd have kept up the 'guilty' act, although guilt and fear can look very similar.

I like your accent though.

I got called a Kn*bh**d today from a passing car. I quickly replied c*nt (due to speed of the car) and that was that.

If I had caught up with the car then I would have had a little word with the driver about controlling his passengers.

No it's not OK for them to shout at you, but I would be very careful about putting yourself in harms way just because some uneducated fool in a car has shouted something at you. If you want to carry on the way you are do a bit less cycling and take up a martial art or boxing!!

So its okay for other people to swear at you for no reason? I was only giving a response equal to theirs. If they dont like it then tough.

It's not worth it. They are daft enough to shout and swear at you from a car, they are daft enough to smack you one. I once had a lad lean out of the rear passenger window and try and shove me off. Problem was, the car had five of them in, all about half my age, and I had carbon road shoes (can't stand up), and on my best bike. I just glared at them as I passed at the lights. Just not worth getting into a fight.

I got shouted at from a van the other day. Unfortunatly all I could muster from my position at the end of a road section where I was pushing hard was my 'slightly out of breath stony faced grimace.' This face unfortunatly for me quite closly resembles what others take to be a 'come over here and say that' face. Though fortunatly most people who shout from cars have short angry man syndrome, and won't come over. Particularly when it becomes apparent I am actually a much bigger man, closer to them than they first thought.

I find that if I do have the power of speech when I get yelled at in any circumstance the best response is a big grin and a cheerful 'Thanks'. Disarming to all but the most psychopathic of person.

This really does work. Be nice and ignore the insults. If Mr Angry man doesn't get fuel for his anger, just like a fire, he'll go out.

That or answer with random comments "I've got one of those as well, they are great", or "It was white before the wife washed it"

With my luck, I'd shout back something cheery like "Nice hat!" and get the response "What d'you call me?".
