Tourer in the making

B'twin Triban 3, just over 5 years old and makes a good stab at being a tourer. This was taken last month when I went from Leighton Buzzard to Llanidloes via Bristol and Brecon. It behaved very well

No, I wasn't in MK on Saturday. Did go for a ride with a friend in the evening though west of LB. Plenty of T3's knocking about

Another Surly to show... and oddly enough, this is not my normal touring bike! But it performed beautifully crossing the Scottish Borders twice in September: first from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Edinburgh, then Lockerbie to the Lake District.

My Ridgeback Voyage and my wife's Ridgeback Tour prior to our Tour de Cotswolds earlier on this year. I've changed the brakes on both bikes, from the original Tektro Oryx cantilevers, to mini V brakes. A vast improvement in feel and performance.

Yes, my Surly CC came with Tektro Oryx and they were sh*te. I swapped out the front fork to a Straggler so I could fit discs. Still cantilevers on the rear but that is pretty much a non-issue now.

Here is my Surly Cross Check built up to serve as a bit of a do-it-all with parts I had from another bike I have stripped for now. Just finished setting up my new bags and briefly stress testing them at the supermarket. Pretty versatile bike, will serve happily for sportier rides with friends and fills in admirably as a utility bike and will no doubt serve well as I start to tour with it.
