I'd never use one of those aluminium NHS elbow crutches. In Accrington so many use them, they are known as 'dole poles'!

In my home town of Redcar (now long departed) you would look a bit out of place on the High Street if you didn't have a gammy leg 🙂

I have an inkling to get myself a Shillelagh, a dual purpose one of course, or one of them shepherds crooks, but for now I just use a proprietary hiking stick in the colder months ,when I succumb to the vagaries of Arthur Rightarse , warmer weather is manageable without a stick.

My dole sticks and a book of fiction. Fortunately got rid of both now.

You will note the beer pump. Put glass next to pump, hobble round to front of pump, fill up, put full glass near rear of pump, hobble back round and collect glass. Badly fractured pelvis that I didn't know about.

My Blackthorn & Deer Horn walking cane that I made a few years ago. It's a tiny bit short so I might make another one when I can find a straight piece to cut.

They won't take them back in England and Wales, but will do in Scotland and Northern Ireland, so I've been told.🤔
