Thank you everyone for your replies! I'm glad to hear so many of you are signed up. If it has been a while it can be a good idea to re-register on the link given https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/how_to_become_a_donor/registration/consent.asp and they will cross-refer to your NHS number and update any details.

This is much appreciated and I am coming over all emotional...

However, on a lighter note, we were glad that the baby who had some of Dan's liver is still well. We were worried it might have developed a tremendous taste and capacity for gin and tonic....

I've been signed up for a long time. They're welcome to any bits of me that could help when I go. I won't have any more use for them after all...

I have been on the organ donor list since leaving school. I gave my husband my left kidney in 2008 so my cadaver donation is going to be a bit short of the full quota.

I get quite cross with people who say that they would never go on the donor register but that would take a donated kidney/liver/heart of whatever if they needed to.

I've been on it for a while. I was quite happy for any organ to be harvested but my then ten-year-old daughter said "Not your eyes, Dad". Actually, I think that a fair amount of me is a bit too clapped out to be of any value.

I joined donkeys years ago. My family , friends and work collegues all know that if i have no use of a body part and its recyclable and somebody else needs it they can have it .

For once Arrowfoot i agree with you. It should be opt out only.

All signed up. One of my best friends was born with heart condition and was given six weeks to live in 1992 but was fortunate to receive a heart transplant and is alive and well today. Why not give someone that chance if the worst should happen and you no longer need your organs?

Been on the register for years,Blood Donors too. And, until circumstances made travelling to Lancaster at short notice difficult,I was a Plasma Donor.Sadly,I cant make it as often as I would like.If I may I would just say this,if any of you could spare the time and take my place youd be very welcome at your centre. My apologies for the "hijack"
