My mum will declare: "it's all sky-fi.....".

Also have yet to hear any US person say "asterisk". It's always "asterik". The biggest offences in my mind though are the "uns". As in "moun-un", or "Isaac New-un". My teeth are chattering right now!

A friend of mine says "Asterix" when talking through copy amends. I used characters from the comics the first time, but she'd never read them and didn't understand my hilarious joke.

In certain parts of the US we get 'axed' a question instead of asked, and they want to come 'wif' you to the 'liberry'. In other parts they 'orn' their clothes after they are done 'warshing' them, and you cross a 'crick' instead of a creek. It has taken many years but I can finally understand most Americans (and I'm from here!), until I was in my 20s I thought my mother was talking about a crick in her back or something!

To the previous post, I say 'asterisk' but have heard others call it an 'asterix' or if it is too intimidating they just call it a star, lol.

We actually had a client who was very irritable about something with his order and asked, "Don't you people have some sort of customer satisfication process here?!" I wanted to reply, "No, George W., we don't."
