For the benefit of my kids: Schedule starts with a "sh" sound, not a "sk" sound. "Harrassment" has the emphasis on the first syllable, not the second. One receives an invitation, not an invite.

Mrs Brains can not do '....owl' words

Towel = tauw
Owl = Ow
Ale = Aew
Barrel = Baw-l
Level = Levl

The "Owl on the Towel with the Ale" becomes
"Ow on the tauw with the Aew"

Down in that Devon part of the in law clan are reet farmer bois.

Jo's parents and Aunt were off to an auction and they all wanted to buy some receptacles to place cut flowers in. Aunt pronounced it "vause " (rhymes with cause) to avoid that Devon trait of pronouncing far to many A's.

Vaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase was deemed to be far too vulgar!

So until I pointed it out to him, my better half thought that 'queued' was pronounced like 'qwayed'. I asked him to repeat himself because he said something was 'in the quay'. I said, 'You mean the 'cue' and he was adamant. I was like 'so the past tense is like Dennis Quaid' and he said yes. I made the online dictionary pronounce it...

To be fair we are Americans and it isn't a common word 'round these parts.

I wonder if Americans actually spell it Aluminum as well, will have to check.

We do, I got into a disagreement with my best friend who was from Colchester on the pronunciation of it once. I said jokingly, 'You English always adding unnecessary letters. It's aluminum!" and he replied, "You dumb Americans dropping letters because it is too hard for you to spell things properly! Who do you think discovered aluminium?" ^_^

There's a few that my kids came up with when learning to speak and they've stuck in my brain.

Codweb is one and sick-a-moo-tee (despicable me).

Two that really stand out is the inability to say three or free in the right situation and bought or brought.

I wonder if Americans actually spell it Aluminum as well, will have to check.

Damp squib is another one people have trouble with (it's not bloody damp squid!).
Mr Hop was of the damp squid persuasion. Several years ago I asked why he said that... It's how he perceived it to be said by others and he had no idea what a squib was.
