I'm not good at braking on drop bars, I struggle from the hoods - need to see the shape, if Shimano needs to go asap. Bullhorns or cross levers are the option

Ah OK - the Ritchey WCS bars are quite compact, I've got fairly average bloke's hands (average height too), so generally a little larger than women's. The brakes are light to use though. I don't use the drops much - I ride on the hoods !

Yes it's braking from the hoods. Will need to see how the shape is

Cross levers will be fine
Yes, I'll probably get Pearsons to fit them even though the lad in the workshop was trying to tell me they were useless (I have on a current roadbike and they are more than adequate)

Hey, I bought a blue Pearson touche from @Mike! . Needed to get new forks as the steerer had been cut and it was way too low at the front for my ancient bones! Also had cross brakes fitted. Not ridden much lately as I'm keeping it lightweight so no mudguards which given how wet the roads are would lead me to getting a very dirty back and wet feet!

Good fun though for sunny days

The Pearson frame (same frame as my Wills Whhels) was designed for guards. Fit them.

Mine is off the road for a couple of days. Awaiting a new BB as the nearly 6 year old BB has developed a little play and a slight squeak. It's done every day in all weathers. It's still running smooth, but there is play. Got one on order as they are 110mm axels. I could ride it, but I've removed the BB.

I probably shouldn't be riding single speed right now with my knees anyhow, so not having mudguards forces me onto the equilibrium

I don't want to spoil it's looks with mudguards if I don't have to (nor do I want to spend any more money on the bikes/bike stuff at the moment)

If I only had one bike maybe I'd bother, with two with full mudguards, not needed

My plan was to commute on it, but after getting extremely freaked out cycling yesterday afternoon in London once it got dark as @jefmcg witnessed , I won't be doing that until it's again light until 7pm whatever the weather
