Snake Pass Scheduled to be closed to vehicles from 12/10 for two weeks: Update - no cyclists allowed

That used to be one of my rides "when i were a lad". Used to pedal over from Marple and then over to Rivelin and back. Tried the Wood head a couple of times but way too much traffic and that was in the late 80's, i suppose now it's like a motorway.

Loved stopping at the Snake Pass in in that woody section.

Will do it again some day once i can get back over

Must be a great ride "sans voitures"

Update.....

Rode to the base of the Snake in Glossop this morning

Barriers across the whole road including pavement. Got turned around by workman in a van. Apparently the roadworks are e extensive and considered unsafe to pass. So it's a no go unfortunately. Sorry to have got everyone's hopes up!

It is due to Snow. Was on our local radio yesterday.

I always remember back in the day when BBC reported the Snake Pass being closed due to snow
