What a final, that was RIGHT up there - surprised to hear that only 4 finals have gone to a final frame, felt like more for some reason.

Like most, I was pretty certain that Murphy's experience would get him through, and that Yize would start to falter as the finishing line approached, but not a bit of it - his attitude, and bravery was exceptional, and at such a young age - yes I know Hendry managed it at an even younger age, but still - being in this country for a number of years, and not speaking the language, that must be pretty tough I would imagine.

How Murphy gave the eloquent and humble speech he did I do not know, he played incredibly well and imho, had it not been for him being hampered by the yellow I think it was (roll of the balls) he would have almost certainly had his second championship.
That escape he pulled out just before that happened was, for me, off the scale, both in terms of bravery and critically the execution.

He's still got plenty of snooker years left in him should he want to continue, and personally I think he's got at least 1 more WC in him.
He's probably the player, along with O'Sullivan, and now Yize, I enjoy watching the most.

I've never been a Higgins fan and was pleased when he was beaten - just don't like, and have never enjoyed his style of play for some reason.
That was well before the fake sheikh stuff as well.

Something about just seeming to suck the life out of frames, perhaps (my view)?

Hard to blame Higgins. How else can he compete at his age, it really amazing that he still does.
They considered the tables had tighter pockets this year so I really do wonder if any players use calipers to judge each pocket pre-match.
The tables are much easier in China. If anyone saw any of the matches in the tournament Thepchaiya Un-Nooh won, you could sense the massive difference. Balls would ricochet 10+ times and then drop into the funnel pockets.

It would be great if the published each pocket measurement so that players can adjust and spectators be informed.

It isn't just the size of the pocket but the way they are cut.

Which is size. Funnel size.
If you have ever watched Thepchaiya, he goes for every shot, average ball control meaning his breaks are often ultra spectacular.
So he seldom progresses. It was far far harder for the professionals to miss that tournament, which helped him the most.

He said 'every table we do', not 'all templates the world over are the same'.

Players like Hendry confirmed the differences. Also, no doubt in the world championships you are talking 10ths of a mm, even with the same template.
China, they confirmed the pockets are 'much bigger'. There, they even look bigger.
