Your forum name suggests you are not what one might call a high performance cyclist in which case normal clothing can be worn unless the distance is very great. If your bloke insists on cycle specific clothing, ..................well, I don't think it's for me to advise
Or have I completely misunderstood your posting?
Morning! No, no bloke involved, that would definitely warrant a bus fare in and a taxi back

Since I mastered my wee commute to work, about 5 miles each way, I only chickened out twice since October, because of icy conditions, and only had to abandon twice, due to punctures. So I stopped buying the monthly bus pass.
Now, if i want to go to town for coffee with the girls, or for a night out, distance very small, even me I can get there in about 40 min no sweat, am I meant to appear with tomato red waterproof trousers, equally red skying jacket and bright orange rucksack??? Not mentioning the sturdy foot ware and the yellow helmet!

Normal clothing does not work, you can get very soaked in 40 min, even in July you could leave in the sunshine, return in a storm, never mind in January

So should I just take the bus? Would this not defeat the purpose of "commuting by bike"?
Ah, it's a lady's dilemma!
