What's a girl got to do when she fancies a day/ night out, but her cool ride(s) won't take her to town wearing the appropriate attire :girl:and leaving the waterproofs at home is just not an option? :cold:

Your forum name suggests you are not what one might call a high performance cyclist in which case normal clothing can be worn unless the distance is very great. If your bloke insists on cycle specific clothing, ..................well, I don't think it's for me to advise:biggrin:

Or have I completely misunderstood your posting?

Morning! No, no bloke involved, that would definitely warrant a bus fare in and a taxi back ^_^
Since I mastered my wee commute to work, about 5 miles each way, I only chickened out twice since October, because of icy conditions, and only had to abandon twice, due to punctures. So I stopped buying the monthly bus pass.
Now, if i want to go to town for coffee with the girls, or for a night out, distance very small, even me I can get there in about 40 min no sweat, am I meant to appear with tomato red waterproof trousers, equally red skying jacket and bright orange rucksack??? Not mentioning the sturdy foot ware and the yellow helmet!
Normal clothing does not work, you can get very soaked in 40 min, even in July you could leave in the sunshine, return in a storm, never mind in January
So should I just take the bus? Would this not defeat the purpose of "commuting by bike"?
Ah, it's a lady's dilemma!

What happened to my post? server crashed I think :-0 Anyway, thanks for that advice, will take the bus on " special occasions" ^_^ Got caught in a wee snowstorm today, on foot, but when I left home a couple of hours before it was quite mild, just raining. You can never plan the weather here!
But what do the more then me  hard core lady cyclists do when faced with the choice between their wheels and their outfits?

If you do a search for ladies cycle wear or similar, it will return a few threads with ideas on. For instance this one

Hey you guys!!!! (including the genderless Sheddy ) not even my younger male colleagues would venture out on their bikes as scantly clad as this! You'd freeze your knickers off!
Thanks for the replies anyway, I really like the style of the person in Amsterdam riding with his headphones on ... :music::bicycle:
