Anyway back to my install , early days granted but I’m defo seeing my consumption from the grid reducing ?! Let’s see what spring brings on , April/May are apparently the best months up here .

I've been able to get our usage from 4.30 til 00.30 down to less than 5 % of total demand. So it's almost all off the off peak electricity or solar.

The bills should be a lot cheaper in future.

Still not enough day light for when the sun is shining , face SE and panels split did hit just over 3kW at one point today of the panels . However it is Feb, still winter . So not all bad managed two washes and the dishwasher and only hit 7kW imported thus far ! Batteries got to 50% but now drained lol ! However that’s what they are for :okay:

We hit a peak of 6.39kW today, and the battery reached 100%, plus the immersion heater to max temperature.

In the last week, we have produced a total of 113kWh

So our first full month of solar and it's keeping me busy with spreadsheets at least.

Comparing to last February - we've bought 15% less electricity.
We've also used 92% less electric at peak rates.

We generated 274kWh and used 70% of that so our total electric usage is up on last Feb - I guess that's us using the immersion more for free.

Ignoring the standing charges - we have saved £72 on the bill we would have had last February at the new higher prices.

Oh I should add that this includes running the EV for about 1000 miles this month.

If I was doing that distance in the Yeti - that alone would have cost almost £160.

No.

Any surplus energy goes back into the grid. There is no (legal or safe) way to connect up your system to your neighbour's system and transfer electricity to them.
Do the grid still pay you for this surplus energy ?
So are you are saying there's a law that forbids you safely connecting an extension lead from your outlet to a neighbouring
property ?

Yes - via your outgoing supplier, which may or may not be the same as your incoming supplier (individual households don't normally have a contract with the grid).

Yes.

Electricity Act 1989, section 4.

[F69(b)participates in the transmission of electricity for that purpose;]

[F70(bb)distributes electricity for that purpose;]

(c)supplies electricity to any premises, F71...

[F72(d)participates in the operation of an electricity interconnector][F73; or

(e)provides a smart meter communication service,]

F74shall be guilty of an offence unless he is authorised to do so by a licence ... .

I should know better than to question a civil servant. It really is sod all to do with the greedy energy cabal what you do
with your own surplus energy. I'm always having baths in my neighbours house I.m saving a fortune 0o

I'm not a civil servant, never have been (Although I did have periods working for both Wales Gas and BT after privatisation of those organisations).

I've just always taken an interest in the law, and found out a lot about how to look up legal matters when I was a member of the PCG when we were mounting a Judicial Review of the IR35 legislation.
