So I was cycling along this evening, lit up like a christmas tree, minding my own business when a car passes me and the passenger leans out and calls me something I won't repeat here. I did nothing at all to provoke him and was keeping well to the side. I resisted the urge to sprint after him, catch him by surprise at the lights and give him a piece of my mind. Instead I consoled myself with infantile thoughts such as, "Ha, I'm probably more healthy than you because I cycle so I'll probably live longer than you."

Rant over.

What did he call you that got you so upset? A Liberal Democrat?

If by close to the side you mean gutter, don't ride there!

Not quite. He called me a w****r

How rude!
Mind you, I was once mistaken for the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt - at least I think that's what the big man in the passenger seat of his mum's Clio shouted...

I got called a "fat daffodil" recently. Which was hurtful because I'm only slightly overweight.

Goodness knows what goes through people's minds that makes them think it's OK to randomly swear at people.
Yeah not the first time I've had that sort of thing, always winds me up.

I've never suffered such a verbal assault. One of the advantages of being a large mofo is that folk don't seem keen to risk confrontation, which is fine by me.

Good for you though not rising to the abuse. Its usually the easier option to see red and confront them but it often ends up in an ugly scene. I wish I could adopt the same restraint as you but I'm afraid I'm a bit of a hot head in such situations.
