I was thinking more the places where you could get them filled with a suitably dark liquid, thus enabling you to see the number easier.

Probably 'M' numbers now mostly

Thanks.

When it happened, I thought it would be useful to remember in case it ever came up in a pub quiz.....but a bit like the horse that ran the Grand National, that never was (Esheness) - none of the things I purposely remembered ever came up!
What date?

“And they're away — oh, and once again the tape has snagged, and it's a recall... It was caught round Richard Dunwoody's neck, the tape. And they've been recalled — but the majority don't realise that it is a recall! They're going down to jump the first, they're going to!”

My workplace think I'm the font of all knowledge, when I actually just have good google fu and am willing to use it to find out an answer. Then again I am also cleverer than they are (although when you have to step in to clear up a debate about whether Sherlock Holmes is a real person and how sometimes he wears Victorian clothes and sometimes modern day garb you do wonder how low the bar is set...)

to be fair, can understand why... still a shame though ...'specially cos online stuff just tends to update and so can't do that fabulous thing of looking back and seeing what people thought in the "olden days" I've got a First Aid manual from 1939 and its fabulous - different instructions for delivering first aid to males and females, and instructions for carrying the injured over hedges..... we're all going to deny ourselves the chance to look back at how things used to be done...
